There is a huge backlog of machines where people have paid in full months ago and will be waiting into 2022. Used prices have sky rocketed, new and barely used prices are above MSRP. All sorts of supply chain issues causing delays. If you got a dealer that does new and used machines, you can often get a warranty included in the machine, like a local place I use typically fixes up any used machines they get, and sells them with 1 year coverage if anything happens they will come out and fix er up for you. Some folks will say buy from a person, that's fine and you can save money going through offer up or other sites and doing a personal transaction. It's best to research the individual machines. If one breaks, you often can't replace them, so when buying you need to make sure your used machine is all in good looking order. For example those uniquely made parts of the playfield that are unique to that machine. The one aspect with pinball machines to be careful with is the unique parts. If you are buying a new machine, like a Stern you can usually get service easier but classic old machines all kind of worked the same. I had to have a tech diagnose and replace the defective chip and got it working again, but something I could never do, so some stuff you might need to have someone who is able to do tech call ever. I think an important aspect is knowing you got support, do you have a local vendor or vendors who can provide support if something happens? For example I had a coil seize and burn out, which also caused a chip to get damaged. Are you familiar with working with pinball?
